Festival Goers - It's That Time of Year Again
Yes that’s right, the time of year is now coming around again where all festival dates and tickets are released. Oh the excitement!
Just imagining which one you will be going to this year, or how many rather than just the one is a great thought, so let’s hold that for a minute and give yourself a moment to admire the madness you will be attending.
skignz done a bit of research to see what the top 10 festivals are this year that people will be attending. This is what we got:

Now are you attending any of these? If you are you know how crazy, packed and fun they will be.
However through all that fun you will want to make sure that whilst camping out, drinking and partying you will need to make sure that you can find your friends, tent, and stages and drink bars very easily, as losing any of these will defiantly be a drag to the festival experience.
So how can you make sure that you will not happen to be in any state where you cannot find your friends, tent, and stages and drink bars? The answer is skignz.
skignz is a free app that you can download to your mobile device. It uses augmented reality and GPS to allow you to place skignz wherever you are going and then easily direct yourself when you arrive at the location.
Now that probably sounds a bit confusing to you, well here is a little example of what skignz can do.
‘Once you have downloaded the skignz app, you and your friend’s can all add each other and join together on skignz. Then you can place a ‘virtual’ skignz above your own head. Once you have done this say you are at the festival and you are all dancing away and your friend leaves to go and get a drink, now finding them again in that massive crowd is going to be a struggle.
Well what you do is open up the skignz app on your phone, scan the crowd and there you should see a little floating skignz above your friends head telling you where they are and how far away so you are easily directed to them. How simple is that?’
With skignz, you can also pre place skignz on your online account through a Google maps interface with the free 3 skignz you get at the beginning of signing up. So say you pre placed a skignz before the festival and you placed one above the stage you want to see your favourite act playing, one above where your tent is going to be and one above where the bars are, you will easily be able to find your way to and back from the bar, to the stage where you want to be and back to the tent at the end of the night when after a few drinks finding your tent will seem to prove a little difficult!
skignz can help make sure your festival experience is fun and you get the most out of seeing the acts you went to go see and not spent a lot of the time looking for others or getting lost.
So why not download the app through iTunes or Google Play before you go and have a little play about. You can get used to it and then be ready to use it for the festivals you will be attending this year. The line-up for each festival looks awesome at the moment so you really don’t want to missing the acts and spending time wandering about hopelessly.

Interactive Christmas Cards!
We all receive a lot of interactive Christmas Cards when it comes to this time of the year!
We all can admit that we do love to receive them. skignz has received a lot of these recently and we enjoy watching all of them so we thought that we would share with everyone what we have received so that you can enjoy them too!

skignz: 2014 - What a year!
2014 has been a pretty interesting year for skignz so we thought we would like to
have a little look back over our time to remember some of the great moments we
had!
January
January saw skignz
providing seminars to Teesside University students about the technology
available to them personally and on campus. This was a great opportunity for skignz as we got to inform our target
audience just how great the technology is that is available to them. This for skignz went great and we saw our user
database rise within a matter of weeks.
February
With starting our next stage of development with Teesside
University, we also started to shoot promotion videos for other Universities!
We wanted to make the skignz technology
available to all universities possible which is still undergoing as we speak!
As skignz had an
aim to make the technology available to all universities possible, we though
where better to start than China! One of the world’s largest countries for
population and universities! So we decided to hire a new Intern Katherine Kui, who was from China
originally herself so that she could work on the social media channels for
China and to start generating interest over there!
skignz can also
proudly say that we got nominated this month for the environmental category at
the Best New Business Awards! We came runner up in this however we hope to be
the WINNER of the next awards so keep an eye out and wish us luck!
We also this month started to do preparation for the Motor Expo event which we enjoyed creating some great footage and images.
March
skignz also this
month had our first meeting of many with
Facebook!
March also saw skignz
engage with a great online marketing company Get Me Media! Which allowed skignz
to be noticed by many others and widen our recognition. We got invited to exhibition events and
hopefully more future opportunities to allow skignz to meet more of the best companies around!
April
At the beginning of April, we launched our April fools to
all of our followers. This got a great response for skignz as it fooled a lot of people! We told them that we had
secured a contract with Nasa to which
people were phoning us up and contacting us to congratulate us on the best news
they heard! What a great April fools!
In April skignz
also attended the Silicon Valley Banking networking event down in London. This
allowed us to meet some of the best people and liaise with some great companies
that we wish to plan future work with!
skignz also spent
some time down in London this month again as our CMO was down filming some
production shots for the company at some of the great views around!
May
May was a great but sad time for skignz as it saw our Film and Media Producer Glen College be
offered the chance to go and work in the Falklands for a year for FITV! Now we
of course ensured him that it was a great opportunity and that he had to go for
it and could not turn it down! However we did assure him that he would always have
a place at skignz!
During May, we also began to do work with the great Silicon
Valley Banking account corporate team! We agreed a partnership deal with them
which meant for skignz it was
a big push in the right direction!
skignz also this
month needed a new Film and Media producer to replace Glen who was off on his
new journeys to the great Falkland Islands!
June
During June skignz
also delivered the first of many pilots to Motor Expo in Canary Warf. We hoped
this was the start of something good for us … keep watching this space.
The CMO also attended the Good wood Festival of Speed this
month.
Finally a big thing to happen during June was skignz launched ‘make your own image of
skignz’. This was very fun and
interesting and opened up a lot of future possibilities for skignz as it could now be more personal
to anyone working with skignz. The
team also had a lot of fun playing about with creating their own skignz as you
can see from the images.
July

During July, skignz also got tested abroad through one of our team members going away to Spain, she used it to help her find where she needed to be and find her friends.
This was a huge success and shows skignz can be used in any location and just how useful it is!
August
During August, skignz
got the chance to have an initial meeting with a Global Bank about race days,
sponsorships, appointments and marketing to see how skignz can help assist with
any of these. skignz wants to further
the business and make it very global and we hope this is just the beginning!
August was also a great month for skignz as it allowed us to give our live demo of skignz to the Jockey Club. One of skignz big ambition as you know is to
work with all live events around the world, and what better way to do this than
to work on all race days around the world. New technology is advancing all the
time, so skignz believes it would be
a huge benefit to every race day.
September
September saw a really busy month for skignz. It started off with the launch of our Kickstarter campaign
which was a massive important task to skignz this month. We had launched
Kickstarter to help raise funds towards the business so that we could further
what we do and improve it for all our users.
However this didn't go as well as
we thought so we decided to cancel the campaign and re think it to make it much
better with a re-launch next year. We were entirely grateful for all those who
had already supported us!
skignz also this
month we have written eight different patents for skignz
technology ready to go to the next stage of making sure the IP behind skignz remains ours.
Also during September, BETA had carried out testing on skignz new 3D models. Yes that’s right,
we are in the current process of launching 3D models to which users will be
able to interact with if they choose. From launching out 3D models we are now
looking at doing some great work with something very interesting …
skignz also got
to deliver in the ASI conference in America this year which was really great
for us. We got to inform a whole lot of people and businesses about skignz and what it does and how we can
help them and their businesses.
As part of skignz mission
to work with big brands, this month we went live on Apple, Facebook and Google headquarters campuses! If you would like to see these then you can still, plus

October
October was very exciting for skignz as we managed to agree a deal with CHIME PLC. This means a strategic partnership over the 5 years to deliver the skignz technology in to pretty much every major global sporting event. skignz is very excited to get going and we hope it brings a range of new opportunities for both CHIME and
skignz!
skignz also this
month had a lot of interest with Scotland, Ireland and a group of Serbian Universities.
This work is still in the early stages so hopefully when we find out more we
will be sure to let you know through our social media how everything goes.
November
Also this month skignz were confirmed as part of the NE England delegation that is visiting Boston, MA, in the US to meet with a range of tech companies, agencies, VC's and potential tech partners including Microsoft who are hosting part of the event alongside UKTi (UK Trade & Investment), NECC (North East Chamber of Commerce) and BABCNE (British American Business Council New England.

Following immediately after the Boston trip skignz are very privileged to not only attend Most Contagious this year in London but also exhibit and demonstrate the skignz technology to everyone there.
This quite clearly is still to happen, so when it does we will update you all straight away on how the event goes and hopefully what the great outcomes of it will be through our usual social media channels.

Make your festival fun not a task!
skignz knows that each year, thousands of people attend festivals to have an awesome time and see some of their favourite acts. However you want that festival to be fun, not a struggle to find your friends, find the bar, know where the toilets are and so many other activities that many people find to be a drone when attending a festival.
So we decided to get a personal point of view from a 22 year old student who went to a festival earlier this year and realised just how many struggles there was during the whole event whilst trying to have a good time.
"I attended a festival earlier this year in Milton Keynes called EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival). The event was meant to be a two day weekend which was better this year as it meant I could see more of my favourite acts on each day rather than being crammed all into one. However this got changed and it became a one day event. This didn’t bother me as much because I could still see some of my favourite acts although two of them would be playing at the same time on different stages which meant I had to choose between the two of them. I didn’t like this because it was a hard choice and I wasn’t sure what to do.
Before I went to EDC I got to see who would be playing on what stage and when. However I didn’t take note of this so when I got there I forgot who was playing when and where on what stage. I could have found out but by the time I had searched around looking I would have missed out DJ’s that I wanted to see. So in the end I had to just decide to stay where I was and just randomly come across DJ’s that were playing close to the stage where I was near!
After being there for a few hours and having quite a few drinks already (plus on the coach down – bottle of vodka between two never a good idea!) things started to get a bit “confusing” so to say. Things that I needed to do became a struggle. To start off with going to the bar and back constantly was a real task, having to make my way out of the crowd then back again to find where my friend was.
This was okay at time as there was only two of us so near the beginning of the festival we went the bar together then back again to find a spot to wait for an act to play. However as the day went on, we had a good spot and didn’t want to lose it. So we decided to go the bar one at a time. Well this didn’t go to plan as you can imagine!
I wandered off to the bar to get us some drinks. Thinking all was good, I then decided to head back to where I thought we were stood to give my friend his drinks. This didn’t happen! I l lost him. There was only two of us together so we had no one else to contact. What a nightmare. I did try ringing him but he couldn’t hear his phone in the loud music and crowd so I was now all alone (and even more drunk). Oh no. It then went downhill – literally, from here.
I decided I would just have to wait on my own for a while till I found him. So I thought I needed the toilets, although I didn’t know where these were and I couldn’t be bothered searching around for ages for them, I wanted to get back to the crowd and see the DJ playing that I had gone to watch!
I then had a brainwave (or what I clearly thought it was at the time), I thought I would just go up this hill of grass and go the toilet around there in a more quiet area. What I didn’t think of what that it had been raining earlier that day and the day before so the grass was already wet.
Having done what I needed to do I began to struggle to stand up a little, to which I then slipped over where I had just been the toilets and slid down the hill (as you can imagine where I had just had a wee)!. Now this was awful! I felt mucky and dirty and there was no way of cleaning myself. What a mess!
From then I decided to make my way back to the crowd to listen to a few more DJ’s and hopefully meet my friend. (That was a big wish in this crowd!) People were friendly so they did start talking to me however I think it obviously was the friendly drunk talking. Although one girl started talk to which I though she was being quite “overly” friendly with me however I couldn’t tell as I am a friendly chatty person too but I do have a girlfriend at home.
So when I thought she may be starting to become “too” friendly I told her I had a girlfriend back home. To which she clearly was shocked and disappointed. By this I knew I was in the wrong situation and knew that I needed to find my friend because god damn I knew how much trouble I would be in if my girlfriend found out that to which I thought was a nice friendly girl talking to me was actually trying to make a move on me, I defiantly wouldn’t be getting a happy welcome home!
Then as the night went on I started to search and randomly bumped into my friend which was good for me. We then decided to stay together as we had now by this point been away from each other for a good few hours! This always seems to happen to us at events as well which was becoming more of a regular thing.
The festival on a whole was a really good time. I did get to see some of my favourite DJ’s who I had gone to see although I didn’t get to see others that I really wanted too as they were on the same time as others and this was a pain that I didn’t know what time and where they were. However from that I enjoyed it loads and would defiantly go back again! EDC 2015 – hopefully Las Vegas this time!'
So now I look back over my time at EDC this year, I found out about skignz and realised just how much I NEEDED it at the event and how much EASIER it would have made my whole time. When I simplify it all down I could have used skignz a lot and knew the whole way around the event.
For one I could have used skignz to help me know what DJ’s were playing when and where at the event. This way I wouldn’t have had to wait around at time for a DJ I liked to come on and play at a stage where I already was. I could have used skignz to show me where the other stages where and what acts were playing there and at what times. I could have made my struggle a whole load simpler.
Then I could have used skignz for when I lost my friend. Going the bar on my own and saying I will ‘find’ him again in the crowd was never going to happen. If we both had downloaded skignz before we went we could have placed a skign above each of our own heads and connected to each other.
Then that way when I had got the drinks all I had to do was scan my phone across the crowd and I was see the skign above his head and know straight away where he was and I would have been able to find my way back to him as easy as that! Then we would have not lost each other and I would have got into “bad” situations that I really didn’t and shouldn’t have been in!
Lastly when I think of it my biggest embarrassment and regret was that I didn’t download skignz and skignz up the toilets where they were before I went to EDC. Everyone needs the toilet a lot when they go to any all-day drinking event so really knowing where they are is essential.
If I had done this and knew where to find them then it would have saved me from falling over in my own urine and save the embarrassment of not looking or smelling too nice and from everyone seeing me like this.
When I next go to a festival I will defiantly be downloading skignz and setting everything up before I go. I didn’t realise just the potential skignz had and just how much of a great impact it would have on me. I would still have the best time just made a whole load easier so I could enjoy it a lot more and with the people I went with.
I defiantly suggest you download skignz before attending any festival or event as you will see just how much of a great impact it will have on you!”
That was a great and funny statement we received from the student who went to Electric Daisy Carnival this year! It sounded like he had an awesome time although really funny.

It is free to download and very simple to use! You can also use it to help you find where your tent is at a festival as it is very easy to lose it in the big crowd of tents and also to help you find where you parked your car if you drive to the festival!
